This Arizona Sentinel of Yuma, AZ is a weekly newspaper headlining advertisements, including housing and legal opportunity, more than anything and the local news, all of which are very scattered. The news in the west was much like how social media is now, it was a collage of everything around town, the news being relevant or not. Page 2 discussed a negro wedding that was scandalously celebrated, meaning their choice of wear was "rude and cheap" and how the negro groom and white pastor hashed it out in the middle of the ceremony. The same page also provided "Legal Notices" columns, one explains tax sales on "Rosario Mining Co.", a Chinese man "Hop Sing", and a white man "L. A, Smith". Another was a notice to the legislature acts acting upon the Yuma county buildings, how the government is going to enable Yuma to build a court house, offices for county officers, and a county jail. On page 4, the newspaper had "Cheering News", celebrating how the Texas and Pacific Railroad received only a few delays in repairing and announces the railway will be open within the next 10 days. The page also announced the "2nd Annual Distribution", meaning one of the subscribers of "Our Fireside Friend" will win a cash prize of $5,000. There's also a surprising "Education" column congradulating that educated women are more valuable than the rich women, how knowledge of culture and taste of life more enthralls a man than bland riches. The Arizona Sentinel was a proper newspaper for the town, it discussed Yuma all around and the major local/important news for the community.
